I notice there is no mention of the highest or second highest gas taxes in America boosting prices.
Leave it MSNBC to miss the mark that the real reason is the Specific California blends which can only be made in CA and the lack of refining capability.

The oil companies see no reason to decrease as quickly as increase.

California is a large and highly populated state. With high gas prices, it makes things hard for the drivers & buyers there.

"The rocket and the feather." This is when gas stations make money - when the wholesale price drops faster than the retail price. Lower pump prices also give consumers more money to spend inside at the convenience store.

Supply and demand, the oil companies have a supply and demand you to pay an arm and a leg to get it

The drop seems to be gaining momentum as the Oakland avg is down to $4.39 over night. Still got $.25 to go to get back to last month and another $.30 to get back to last year but any relief helps.

That has been happening for a long time. When gas prices jump 20 to 30 cents in one day and then goes down by 1 to 2 cents over a two week period, that results in a higher average price. That simply means the gas stations make more money.
