Prices must be manipulated if they can drop .50¢ on an order.

Speculators that support Obama are allowing the price to fall now; wait until the election is over.

Although winter gas is now being sold, prices have not dropped to as low as they were a month ago; that is, I paid $4.399 today for USA regular (a low-priced brand). Seems to me gas should be maybe 10 cents or more less to end the "spike."

I won't hold my breath. But then, winter fuel is just getting started being refined, IIRC. Good luck CA!

Winter Gas is NOT sitting around....it has to be refined first. The price drop will happen soon.

That 50 cent wholesale price drop has still not trickled down to the consumer as of this morning.

Gas Prices Fall 50 cents On Order To Release “Winter Gas” but is 50 cents enough to matter that much? The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their personal benefit. How much will gas prices go up and they will rise, the trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3, $3.50/gallon or $4.00 is Not the new low! Big Oil continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. 'Coming out of the closet' Fred's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not here. Fred's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down – no matter how smoooooth talking Fred spins those numbers! People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII!

“Who knew there even was such a thing as ‘winter gasoline’? Did you?”
Sure did; we never fill our farm tank during summer-gas season. We fill in the spring while winter gas is still available, then use it down and fuel vehicles at nearby stations, if necessary, until winter gas comes back in September. We often get thru the summer without buying any outside gas.

Not only is there winter gasoline, in all of CA they have more then 2 dozen summer blends. Meaning if if one refinary goes under, you have some problems. For instance whats going on now!

"Wholesale Prices" might have fallen, but I see no evidence that the price at the pump has made that adjustment yet. Perhaps when the wholesalers can first sell their inventory of this higher priced fuel

Fox 40 is wrong. Gasoline prices have NOT fallen, in fact they rose by 1/2 cent per gallon down here, and it was reported tonight by KNX (CBS Radio) that the record-high prices continue throughout the state.
Our air's not dirty; just the politicians.

What price do you put on clean air? But then again, if your working for your gas tank, whats the harm in seeing the air you breath? I guess Southern California is too unique.

If you don't think some Winter Gas should be more expensive NOT LESS try these links.
3. Additives. 3.1 Antiknock ... In cold weather , too little volatility results in cars failing to start. .... The lower energy content (per litre) of LPG in comparison to gasoline is due mainly to its lower density. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline)
Diesel fuel is prone to waxing or gelling in cold weather; (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_diesel_fuel)
The Clean Air Act requires use of oxygenated gasoline in areas where winter time ... emissions from gasoline-fueled vehicles tend to increase in cold weather. (http://www.epa.gov/otaq/fuels/gasolinefuels/winterprograms/index.htm)
